Project Description

Station Components Five (5) Stations Broadway Line (BMT) in the Boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn
Owners Name
Metropolitan Transportation Authority/New York City Transit
General description of the project type and size
The contract involved component repairs on three stations in Manhattan: City Hall Station, Rector Street Station and White Hall Street Station and two stations in Brooklyn: Court Street Station and Jay Street Metrotech Station. All of the stations were on the R subway line on either side of the Montague Tube which was being completely rehabilitated and upgraded after damages caused by Hurricane Sandy (under a separate contract.) The component work entailed structural platform edge replacements with new polyurethane rubbing boards, tactile warning strip panels and raised ADA boarding areas; approximately forty thousand square feet of concrete topping replacement; structural steel repairs at various locations; light fixture retro-fit upgrades and new fixture installations; new wall tile installation; rehabilitation of various street stairways including new cast aluminum treads and ADA compliant hand railings; drainage upgrades and additions; crack and spall repairs; lead abatement and painting; photo luminescent (glow-in-the-dark) strip egress guide installations. A large portion of the work was completed while the stations were closed under weekend general orders – and the balance was completed while the stations remained opened and fully operational.
