Citnalta-Forte Joint Venture Chosen as Design-Builder for MTA 14th Street ADA Complex

The scope of work of Contract A37129 includes the design and construction for ADA improvements at the 14th Street Complex, including elevator installation and ADA path-of-travel improvements, and associated state of good repair work at four subway stations in addition to structural concrete and steel repairs along the entire tunnel of the Canarsie Line (L) in Manhattan. Citnalta-Forte Joint Venture (CFJV) has been chosen as the Design-Builder for this $200 million Project.

The Canarsie Line extends from 1st Avenue to 8th Avenue in Manhattan and intersects with northbound and southbound lines at multiple subway stations along 14th Street. Each of these Stations are connected by an existing passageway that allows a subway rider to access the L, 1/2/3, and F/M Lines without exiting the subway system. A total of nine elevators and ten new stairways will be installed during this Project to allow passengers to traverse between street, platform and mezzanine levels, in addition to the relocation or refurbishment of existing stairways at three of the four stations. Several areas require the extension of mezzanine levels to accommodate for these upgrades as well.
