P.S. 47Q Receives TCO!

Congratulations to the team at P.S. 47Q for receiving their Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO)!

The original school that stood at the site of P.S. 47Q first opened in the 1950s and had a temporary addition added in the early 1990s. The school was badly impacted by Superstorm Sandy in 2012, endured structural issues related to heating and cooling and lacked basic necessities for childhood education such as a gymnasium, lunchroom, library and outdoor play space. During the COVIC-19 pandemic, when social distancing orders were in place, the school was 40% over capacity limits.

The new building is a sustainable, resilient and fully accessible school for grades 3K-8, and includes a lobby, administration offices, medical office, cafeteria, library and a gymnasium/auditorium. There is one pre-K classroom, one kindergarten classroom, eight standard classrooms, three special education classrooms and a middle school science demo and multi-use room. Citnalta is currently completing the exterior space which will have an asphalt play yard, early childhood care yard with rubber safety surface, and a 1200 SF garden area.

Citnalta was awarded the $49M Contract with Notice to Proceed in late October 2021. The new 260-seat school building will open in September.
