On Friday, December 19, we attended the Valley Stream Station ribbon cutting to mark completion of major ADA accessibility and infrastructure upgrades as part of the LIRR ADA Improvement Program.

This joint venture with Scalamandre included the replacement of the existing escalator and elevator to improve accessibility and circulation throughout the station. The original elevator shaft was abandoned, and a new elevator shaft was constructed, requiring modifications to the existing platform and viaduct structure.

Due to space limitations, the escalator was widened and a new stair was constructed in a separate location, connecting ground level to the platform. This work also involved additional platform and viaduct modifications, along with a comprehensive electrical service upgrade to support the new systems.

These improvements enhance station accessibility, safety, and long-term performance, reinforcing a commitment to modern, inclusive transit infrastructure across the LIRR system.

Great job team!
